Yesterday I spent some time in Oita prefecture after my trip to Ube, Yamaguchi was called off due to avian influenza epidemic. I first went to Shidaka Lake near Beppu, however there were only the commoner winter species such as Eurasian Wigeon, Mallard, Little Grebe and Great Cormorant. Soup Duck and Mute Swan were resident, as were heaps of carp. I took photos of the swan and carp.
